Six chapitres composent l'ouvrage. L'intervention chirurgicale occupe le premier (préparation à l'opération, instruments, aide-opératoire,surveillance de l'opéré ...). Puis sont étudiés les traumatismes(plaies, fractures, luxations, entorses), l'infection (abcès), les soins d'urgence et les agressions (brûlures, détresses, cathétérismes vésicaux ...), les soins en dehors de l'urgence (tubages, infiltrations...).
Le dernier chapitre est consacré aux investigations, des examens de routine aux techniques les plus modernes, fibroscopie, aortographie, splénoportographie ....
