Les dégâts causés par ces pathologies sont incommensurables et dévastateurs sur les populations. Ce livre présente simultanément les maladies tropicales négligées (MTN) et les infections nosocomiales comme un défi actuel pour l'Afrique. Dans ce cas, l'ampleur de ces pathologies est présentée et analysée froidement avec une forte interpellation sur la nécessité de considérer ces maladies comme des réels problèmes de santé publique. Les motivations du présent ouvrage sont donc clairement exposées et il ne s'agit ni plus, ni moins d'une sonnette d'alarme tirée qui doit réveiller les acteurs à différents niveaux, c'est dire, sur un plan pluridisciplinaire. Il s'agit donc d'un ouvrage majeur, une contribution significative dans la lutte contre les MTN. Il espère susciter une indispensable émulation et des actions concrètes afin que ces pathologies des temps anciens et modernes soient considérées comme de réelles menaces pour l'humanité.
Auteurs :Directeur de publication Julienne Louise Plot LIKENG, PhD en Anthropologie de la santé de l'Université Yaoundé I. Chargée de cours statutaire, enseignant-chercheur é l'UCAC. Elle est coordonnateur des Masters Santé publique (Epidémiologie et Santé communautaire) et Gestion Hospitalière et Sanitaire et Responsable adjoint de l'Unité Doctorale de Santé publique de l'Ecole des Sciences de la Santé de l'Université Catholique d'Afrique Centrale (UCAC). Elle enseigne dans plusieurs universités en Afrique et au Cameroun. Elle est secrétaire de la Revue Scientifique 'Tropiques Santé', Coordonnateur du Collectif Anthropologie-Santé publique (CASP), et membre de plusieurs sociétés savantes au Cameroun.
