Cet ouvrage détaille la description et les caractéristiques des processus hydrogéologiques. Il fournit notamment les équations permettant de calculer les écoulements d'eaux souterraines ainsi que le transport des solutés et de la chaleur en milieux totalement ou partiellement saturés. Il propose enfin une méthodologie pour la modélisation de ces processus à des fins de prévisions spatiales et temporelles.
