L’antibiorésistance, communément appelé AMR (Anti Microbial Resistance), est le terme employé pour désigner le fait que certaines bactéries deviennent insensibles aux traitements antibiotiques.
L’antibiorésistance est reconnue comme un enjeu de santé publique majeur à l’échelle planétaire, touchant indistinctement les pays industrialisés et les pays à faibles et moyens revenus. Au même titre que la pandémie Covid-19, le phénomène de l’antibiorésistance ébranle la totalité de la société et de ses institutions, à la différence près, et non des moindres, qu’il agit à bas bruit, aggravant le pronostic de nombreuses maladies. Très diversifié dans sa survenue et ses conséquences, il est difficile à évaluer et à enrayer. Longtemps re?serve?e au seul domaine me?dical, la proble?matique de l’antibiore?sistance est de plus en plus appréhendée par les sciences humaines et sociales, en recherche de compréhension d’un fait biologique fortement conditionné par les situations socio-économiques et socio-écologiques des territoires dans lesquels il se développe.
Porté par les sciences humaines et sociales, cet ouvrage collectif ouvre de nouveaux champs d’investigation et de compréhension pour penser l’antibiorésistance comme un fait social et non plus seulement biologique. Il mobilise des compétences en sciences médicales (médecine et pharmacie, humaine et vétérinaire), en sciences du vivant (écologie, microbiologie), de l’ingénieur (environnement), et en sciences humaines et sociales (anthropologie, philosophie). Il a pour vocation d’approcher la complexité d’un fait social total qu’est l’antibiorésistance, en présentant tour à tour les contributions de chercheurs et de praticiens, confrontés dans leurs activités – en milieu agricole, naturel, hospitalier, en France (métropole et départements d’outre-mer) ou à l’étranger – à ce qui pourrait bien devenir la plus grande crise sanitaire de notre modernité. Il s’adresse aux étudiants, chercheurs ou professionnels qui travaillent sur cette problématique ou y sont confrontés dans leur quotidien.
